opened in November 2010. Taste Matters is a cosy little dining room situated at the west end of Loughrea town, just under 30 minutes from Galway city. We are two friends, Jirka and Mike, and together with our great little team we have been serving delicious and interesting food and drinks in a relaxed casual atmosphere.
We like to support ‘local’, from vegetable farmers and butchers, through accountants and graphic designers, to painters and musicians, and they support us back with their best produce and work.
could be described as 'modern European' and the cooking is traditional with a twist. As our name suggests, taste
matters to us and our emphasis is on flavour. All our food is made fresh and from scratch using quality ingredients.
We bake our breads fresh every morning using our own natural yeast. We make our pasta, stock for sauces, pickles, ice creams etc.
We buy local where possible and so our meat comes from Loughrea & Athenry, our fish from Galway and veggies from Loughrea and Galway.
There are Gluten Free and Vegetarian options to choose from and we are here to help with any dietary needs you may have.
The wines we serve are organic and sourced from dedicated winemakers through knowledgeable suppliers with passion for wine close to our hearts. We also have beers and ciders reflecting the same principles. We even make our own cordials and we serve these as a healthier alternative to the commercial soft drinks.
